The cent-a-meter is our flagship product designed at monitoring home electricity usage. In Australia, it currently requires a qualified electrician to install it correctly.

Future Directions

Future approaches are planned to the Australian Greenhouse Office and State Sustainable Energy Development Authorities to seek assistance in promotion and inclusion of the product as a practical “hands-on” training aid to schools and for inclusion into other responsible energy management programmes.

The Patent also envisages the product as a universal consumer utility rate monitor, giving usage and cost information to customers for water and gas consumption. The independent market research indicated customers would find such features to be very useful as it would assist them make savings. Further research is required on the development of suitable sensors that can be installed cheaply and easily for mass consumer appeal.

With such future developments, consumers will have at their fingertips a comprehensive utility rate monitor allowing informed choices to be made about their consumption of earth’s scarce energy and fresh water resources and so minimise the harmful effects of such over-use on environmental sustainability.
